Wedding invitation wording samples
The big day is set and the wheels of planning the wedding are rolling along at a rapid pace. There is so much work that goes into planning a wedding. Whether a small gathering of friends or a large spectacular party, details such as wedding invitations must be ironed out several months before the big day.

Most commercial print operations will have set designs for wedding invitations that you can choose from. These commercial printers will also have staff artists who can take your ideas to the level you want them to be at. Whether you have hired a wedding planner or are making all the plans yourself, you and your significant other will need to spend as much time as possible ensuring your wedding invitations are as fantastic as the day itself will be. Some of these print shops will have prepared display binders where you can select from their existing precedent wedding invitations. Even the least artistic people will be able to select something that will catch their eyes. Technology has also allowed people to purchase their own programs where they can create their own wedding invitations from the comfort of home!
When considering these invitations you need to consider every fine point detail. The type of font used in the wording, as well as any border outlines or shading. The colour of the paper the invitations are to be printed on should be considered as well. You will want to have something that will be visually appealing and really grab the attention of the invitees. A poorly designed invitation can turn off potential wedding guest or at least slow their response time. As a courtesy to your invitees you should include a pre-stamped envelope. These invitations will prompt guests to respond faster since they will not be out of pocket for the stamp price.
The most important detail to consider when it comes to wedding invitations is the wording. The commercial printers will have various wordings on their existing precedents which will at least give you an idea of what to say. If you are starting out the process from scratch and are searching for your own creative way to add wording to the invitation, why not sit down with your fiancée and write out a handful of things you might want to say? Traditionally most wedding invitations will say the names of the woman’s parents and extend the invitation to the invitee asking that they join everyone on the great celebration day. However many people are moving away from this kind of wording as times have evolved. A simpler modern wording could read as follows;
“Mr. John Doe and Ms. Jane Jones are thrilled to extend an invitation to you requesting your attendance as they are joined in marriage.”
Notice that the above example gives the impression of the two wedding participants as being the ones who are inviting the guests. This example also excludes any religious reference to “Holy Matrimony”. No matter how you might word your invitation it needs to warmly reflect the marriage ceremony will be a celebration and the invitee’s presence is wanted. Before the printer prints what you want, review the draft proofs in full with your significant other and ensure everything is where it should be before you sign off on the final product.
